A Motorcyclist's Dream Drive

Today we headed South and jumped on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This roads goes on forever on the very ridge of the mountain range. Whoever came up with the idea to put a road along the top of this mountain range was simply a genius. It was spectacular. We drove it for 60 miles in one direction and you never get tired of the amazing views on both sides. As a matter of fact my neck is sore from constantly looking back and fourth to take it all in. Well, at least I think that is the cause and not Karlo's driving.

All along the way there are several scenic overlooks and trails to hike. At one point we stopped and hung out on a huge rock that overlooked a million miles of mountain views. We took a few short hikes and eventually made our way down to the Natural Bridge. This thing was incredible. Water carved a hole (there's an understatement) into a rock to form a natural bridge. The so-called 'hole' is 215 feet high by 100 feet wide and 40 feet thick. Some how somebody figured out that it's at least 500 million years old. Amazing!

From there we visited a quaint little town called Lexington. We strolled some of the shops, where we got the usual cold shoulder glares and worried looks (as if we were going to rip them off) because of our appearance. This is the worst part of riding a motorcycle for me. It really bugs me. And we didn't even have our jackets on - just the big ugly boots. So we left the shops and toured the streets admiring the big beautiful homes. This place had all the charm of Savannah without being in the deep South. I just loved to look at all the unique architecture.

I was going to comment that I loved your boots... oh well!

Beautiful pictures again! Who is taking the pictures of you and Karlo together? Do you have a tripod? Whatever the case, the pictures are just beautiful and I hope you continue to have a wonderful time.

No tripod. I just find a nearby flat rock. Today a nice couple took some pics for us. One of these days I want one of those flexible tripods that can wrap around a branch.
